We hope everyone is busy preparing for christmas. Handmade gifts and decorations seems to be very popular this year and we have enjoyed hearing about all your ideas.

We have lots of lovely new fabrics for the new year including the MODA range and a new season of workshops coming up.

Millie Moon 2 in Wells

We opened the doors to the new shop in Wells, Somerset on 1st October. We are so pleased with the beautiful shop and so far our customers are loving it too, both new and old. Workshops will be starting in Wells in January 2012. Please pop in and visit us.

Christmas Artisan Market

Sunday 4th December is the last artisan market this year.  With stalls and shops opening from 11-4pm the hill will be buzzing with traders and shoppers looking for those unusual gifts away from the high street.

The Sewing Club

Tuesday 6th December is the last sewing club night before christmas.  We would like to invite you all to come along and join us for a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie to celebrate a crafty year. It was a bright and fresh Friday morning when no sooner had Truly put out the flower garlands that decorate the window, did a very relaxed Mary Portas walk by and into our new bedroom style shop. Maybe she was lured in by the pink lights and parma violet scents coming from our doorway…?

I must say I was very nervous but proudly & steadily held my pose. I’m so glad it was early and I was still in my black silky sleep set that Truly had designed and made the day before. I was also wearing my favourite Nana Knit in Red. The perfect outfit I thought to promote our new lingerie range to the Queen of Shops.

Mary had a good look around and admired the colours and unusual fabrics that make up our original womenswear collection. She seemed impressed talking with Truly and wished her luck in the future.

It was especially fun for our mitten maker Molly, from ‘Molly’s Mittens’. She had just popped in to deliver her latest bundle of gloves that are a hit with our customers year after year. Mary was certainly impressed with the quality and colour choices of Molly’s Mittens and chatted happily away about this season’s popular shades.

Mary also visited neighbouring Shop Assembly, Crowman, Nova and The Stardust Cafe for a nice cuppa at the bottom of the hill before heading back to Babington House.

Sunday 4th September:

First Sunday of the month has come around again, and its time to visit Somerset’s most exciting markets. Two markets, one day – you lucky things, you!

After this Sunday’s markets on 4th Sept, here at Artisan HQ we’re taking a well-earned break so that we can start organising the extra special Christmas markets on 4th December.

AUTUMN ARTISAN  10am – 2pm

There may not be an Artisan Market in October or November, but panic not, all your favourites will be at there this Sunday. So time to stock up on Wiltshire Chilli Farm jam, Westcombe Dairy cheddar and Sausage Shed bangers. This weekend we also welcome some exciting new traders selling gorgeous fabrics, jewellery and kitchenware, so come and check them out. Download poster.

FROME FLEA 9.30am – 2pm

As with the Artisan Market, there will be no Frome Flea market in October or November. You’ll have to make sure you get a big bargain fix to last you until 4th December = the next Frome Flea. This month we have Fiona’s Café frying up fresh bacon baps for those early morning bargain hunters, and the Bath Soup Company to fill lunchtime grumbling tummies. We were contacted this week to talk on BBC Radio Somerset about our new Truly Knicker range. As we predicted, the fuller brief is becoming all the more popular over the slow decline of the uncomfortable thong and G-string skimpy styles.

FromeTV were there for the warm up,  the training sessions and to catch the moment when 12 ladies, Fay Goodridge, Zoe Constantine, Briony Walley, Clare Fielden, Debra Wade, Rebecca Coles,Sinead Foley, Liz Andrew, Polly Lamb, Mary Blackwell and Alyson Evans, ”The Ruby Riders” set off to cycle the South Somerset Cycle path to raise £5,000 toward £300K for The Ruby Lambert Trust.

Last year Ruby was enjoying a typical day at school that every child takes for granted when she suffered a heart attack resulting in brain injury. She now requires extensive treatment and her family have to take her to the United states to get this care. So far £75,000 has been raised towards Ruby’s specialist care.

Ruby Rider Emma Slevin says: “I was thrilled to be asked to Ride4Ruby. At the heart of all this cycling and frivolity is a family whose lives have been turned upside down. To be able to raise funds for Ruby’s ongoing care and recovery is an enormous incentive to get back on my bike.”
